The Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau has been reported killed following the invasion of the Sambisa forest by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, another terrorists group, said to be interested in securing the territory

Penpushing reports that, in 2016, the. Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) broke away from the Shekau-led Boko Haram faction after pledging allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS), raided the group’s hideout using multiple gun trucks.

The source said Shekau’s enclave was tracked down by the opposition terrorists group which resulted in a gun due, and led to killings of some of his members, and after he(Shekau) was overpowered, and thereafter engaged the group in a jaw-jaw meeting.

Penpushing further reports that, during the meeting, Shekau was asked to voluntarily relinquish power and order his fighters in other areas to declare bai’a (allegiance) to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)  authority.

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) while expecting Shekau to issue a statement in conformity with the order, suddenly blew himself in the secret suicide vest on him, while the opposition terrorists at the meeting also lost their lives.

Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the identities of other victims were yet to be ascertained in the explosion, but  the take over of the forest by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)  is considered by Nigerians as ‘from fry pan to fire” for the country
