Bandits abduct eight children, kill one person in Taraba state

Suspected bandits have abducted eight children, and killed one person during an attack at Jimlari, a community in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State, on Saturday.

Penpushing reports that residents of the area Ibrahim Hassan, explained that the attackers arrived in the Taraba community in large numbers, shooting sporadically at about 11.30pm, adding that the community was caught off guard

The resident stated that because of the bandits sophisticated weapons, the residents couldn’t mobilise to confront them, adding that the victims were children between the ages of seven and 12 years, and appealed to the government to rescue the abducted victims and also prevent a recurrence of the incident in the community.

Penpushing further reports that the Taraba State Police Command Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Usman, a superintendent of police confirmed the abductions, stating that the police and other security agencies were working to ensure that the abducted persons are freed unhurt.

The fresh attack came days after troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), arrested a suspected member of the Boko Haram terrorist group, identified as Gambo Grema, popularly called Gamboi, in Mai-Hula, Bali Local Government Area of the state.
