AWOLOWO LEGACY BASTERDISED 31 YEARS AFTER DEATH, SAYS LOYALISTS

While, buttressing his point, he lamented that the free education facilitated by the late Awolowo  and his likes  had been “bastardised  by the present generation”, noting that that the quality of education had dropped due to  bad leadership, insisting that Nigerians are not benefiting from the government of the day.

His words  “The leadership is awful, the followership is worst. There is no thought about the future of the people by the government. Awo is the one pillar that has contributed immensely to the development of the country, most especially the Western Region. The quality of our education has dropped because of the poor leadership. Nigerians do not benefit anything from the government of today”.

Akintoye, however, appealed to the youths to take the bull by its horn, stressing that they must think of a new Nigeria and challenged them to fight for the country “by sending the corrupt politicians packing”.

“This is our country; things are bad because nobody is providing for the youths. Youths are suffering in every part of the country and it is time youths stand to take the country back from the present generation’. he stated.

“Our duty is to take Nigeria back, we need to stand and make up our minds. Don’t abandon your country, people are destroying the economy and we must send corrupt politicians packing”.

Similarly, Senator Femi Okunromu in his remark blamed the present government for allegedly bastardizing the legacies of the founding fathers, adding that there must be a paradigm shift in leadership structure in the country.

The Executive Director of Awolowo Foundation, who is one of the daughters, of the late sage,Dr. Awolowo-Dosumu while speaking  lamented that the youths in the country have been denied the opportunity to learn about their nation’s history and  urged Nigerian youth to  choose the right leaders during the elections.
