
Abuja-Kaduna train derails
A Kaduna-bound train from Abuja on Tuesday derailed, sending several coaches tumbling off the track, as passengers became restless, while details of the incident are still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
Penpushing reports that passengers sharing their experiences in a video explained that they just heard a loud screech, in a jiffy everything shook, as they(passengers) started screaming as the coaches lifted and fell on their sides
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa confirmed the incident explaining that it occurred at about 11:09 a.m. at KM 49, between Kubwa and Asham stations.

Penpushing further reports that Opeifa in a statement disclosed that emergency rescue, medical personnel, and nearby hospitals have already been mobilized adding that full complement of security was already on ground as efforts are ongoing to move all passengers back to Abuja safely.

Penpushing also reports that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), however, appealed for patience as rescue operations continue, assuring that more details will be provided as soon as possible.
