The Nigerian Government has shortlisted 9,000 artisans and transporters in Oyo State to benefit from the ‘Survival Funds’, a program which is under the office of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibajo.
Penpushing reports that the program was designed by the Federal Government to render assistance to Nigerians, particularly artisans and transporters in all states of the federation to cushion the effect of coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s economy.
The lead enumerator for the program in Oyo State, Mr. Tomilola Oladele, while speaking on Tuesday in Ibadan, during a sensitisation for the beneficiaries from the state said that having discovered the effect of coronavirus pandemic on Nigeria’s economy, the Federal Government has decided to give a grant of N30,000 each to 4,500 artisans and 4,500 transporters in Oyo State.
Penpushing further reports that,he pointed out that the N30,000 was a grant, not a loan, stating that the money was non refundable, adding, “Oyo State has been scheduled to be in stream 3 of the program, we have done Ondo State, Osun, and Ogun, and all beneficiaries in these states have been paid including Lagos State. We just finished the enumeration in Oyo State, beneficiaries will be paid any moment from now as soon as data from Bank of Industry (BOI) is ready.
Penpushing also reports that Oladele however called on the beneficiaries to used the money judiciously, urging them to count it as a privileged because not everybody benefited from the grant.
The Bank of Industry Manager in Oyo State, Mr. Cyril Anyanwu, in his remarks noted that Bank of Industry( BOI) was one of the Federal Government agencies designated to ensure the success of the program, saying that beneficiaries have been sensitized so as to know what it takes to have access to the grant.
Penpushing reports that the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) manager in Oyo State, Mrs. Mabel Ojogbede thanked the federal government for the gesture, saying that people should be allowed to benefited from the grant accordingly so that the money can get to the right channel.
