24 female governorship candidates to contest in next week’s election

Twenty-Four female Governorship Candidates under different political parties will be participating in the Governorship race in twenty-Eight States scheduled to hold on March 18, 2023 in Nigeria to slug it out with their male counterparts

Penpushing reports that the list is contained in the clearance by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as compiled by Esther Alaribe in Lagos for Women Radio and Sidi Aliyu in Abuja for Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation

The candidates include Dahiru Ahmed Aishatu of All Progressives Congress (APC) Adamawa state who is a graduate of Electrical Engineering from University of Southampton United Kingdom, Gladys Ikonnaya Johnson-Ogbuneke representing Social Democratic Party (SDP) Abia State, who is a graduate of the College of Medicine from University of Nigeria, Nsukka where she obtained her MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)

Penpushing further reports that others are Lancaster –Okoro of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Abia State, a chartered accountant, Ekanem Abasiekeme Action Alliance Party (AAP), Akwa-Ibom State,a Graduate of Chemistry from the University of Uyo and  Founder of Sengah Life Foundation

The list also contained  Udoh Emem Monday of Social Democratic Party (SDP) Akwa Ibom, an expert in integrated reservoir modelling and an  asset development strategist, Petroleum and Technical Reservoir Simulation, Chenge Roseline Ada Action Democratic Party (ADP) Benue State, first female Northern Nigerian mechanical engineer, first female Managing Director of Benue State Water Board, first female Managing Director of the 12 River Basins in the country and  fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Engineer

Penpushing also reports that Dabo Adzuana Aondona represents Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) Benue State, a  businesswoman and former  lawmaker represented Jachira Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives 2003  and 2007, Abubakar Fatima Action Democratic Party (ADP) Borno State

The Governorship Candidate for Action Democratic Party (ADP) Cross Rivers State is Ibiang Marikana Stanley, while her Delta State Accord Party (AP) counterpart is Onokiti Helen Agboola, an Entrepreneur and Cosmas Annabel of All People’s Party (APP), an Entrepreneur who obtained a Higher Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from University of Ibadan will also be contesting in Delta State

Penpushing reports that in Ebonyi State Igwe Chinenye Judith will be contesting under the platform of Allied People’s Movement (APM), while in Enugu State Nweze Pearl Ogochukwu who holds OND in marketing from Institute of Management and Technology Enugu will be going to poll under the banner of Social Democratic Party (SDP)

The Governorship Candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in  Jigawa State is Umar Binta Yahaya, an entrepreneur, founder Mainstream Yahaya Academy and holds  Diploma in Public Administration Jigawa State Polytechnic, while in Kano State Yakubu Furera Ahmad, an Entrepreneur will be contesting with the flag of  Boot Party (BP)

Penpushing further reports that Mahmud Aishatu will equally contest in Kano State under platform of National Rescue Movement (NRM), while in Kwara State, Jaiyeola Motunrayo Deborah, an Entrepreneur will represent Allied People’s Movement (APM)

The Lagos State Candidate under Allied People’s Movement (APM) is Kupoliyi Funmilayo, an Entrepreneur who is a graduate of Business Administration from Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta and her counterpart is  Adeyemi Abiola Roseline of  All People’s Party (APP), a businesswoman who holds Bachelor of Science Economics from Imo State University and  Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from Lagos State University

The Candidate in Nassarawa State under Action Democratic Party (ADP) is Tsakpa Patricia Danlami who holds Bachelor of Education from University of Jos and Master’s Degree in Administration and Planning from National Open University

Penpushing also reports that Abdullahi-Iya Khadijah of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will be in the race in Niger State, a lawyer and certified Gender-based Violence specialist, Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and founder Beyond Mentors Inc

The candidate in Oyo State under Young Progressives Party (YPP) is Euba Aduragbemi, an Entrepreneur and fashion designer, graduate of International Relations from Lead City University, and also holds Diploma in Public Relations from Ogun State University now Olabisi Onabanjo University and Diploma in styling and fashion from London College of Fashion

Penpushing reports that Itubo Beatrice of  Labour Party (LP) will contest the election in  Rivers State, and she is Chairman of Rivers State council of the Nigerian Labour Congress, former Chairperson of the Medical and Health Worker Union of Nigeria, Rivers state branch, former Treasurer of the Nigeria Labour Congress River State and Pioneer Board Member of the Primary Healthcare Management Board, while the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) will present Hadiza Usman as its Governorship Candidate in  Zamfara State
