2023 poll: Social Democratic Party Governorship Candidate, Ojeshina to launch campaign January in Ogun State

The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ogun State, Engr Tony Ojeshina, has disclosed that he would launch his campaign effective from January, as he called on electorate to be wary of vote buying in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Penpushing reports that, Ojeshina made this known at a press conference held at the party secretariat located at quarry road in Abeokuta, boasting that if elected he would make the state financially independent of the monthly federal allocation by driving the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) aggressively.
The candidate who presented his manifestos tagged “Creating A Model State – 2023 to journalists explained that it  focused on industrial, energy, infrastructure and agricultural revolutions, all geared towards making Ogun State a self-sustaining economy.
“Ogun State like all other states in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is totally dependent on monthly federal allocation for her sustenance. The allocation from the Federal Government is, in turn, totally dependent on oil production proceeds”, he noted.
“This has made the Federal Government and Ogun State government vulnerable to any and all irregularities in oil proceeds. Our administration is determined to transform Ogun State from its dependency on federal oil proceeds into one that is self-sustaining. To achieve this, we shall focus on the industrial revolution”, he emphasized
Penpushing further reports that Ojeshina, accompanied by his running mate  assured that the revolution would utilize Public Private Partnership (PPP) approach for establishment of Medium Scale Industries.
The former Commissioner for Environment explained that incentives such as tax holidays, lands and pioneer status break and relevant infrastructure would be provided to proponents of small- and large-scale manufacturing facilities to be established in the state,stressing  that, as Governor, he would give priorities to quality healthcare delivery, education, security of lives and property as well as youth empowerment.
Penpushing also reports that he, pledged to create employment for the youths across the length and breadth of the state, expressing worry over high rate of unemployment among the youths, with assurance that his administration will train and equip them with entrepreneurial skills.
The Engineer turned politician, while speaking on the challenges of vote-buying, pointed out that those behind it has nothing  to offer the country, and warned voters to be cautious of their antics before and during the poll, as he also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on need to be on guard
“I think INEC has to tighten up. When you believe the way you want to win an election is by buying votes, then you are not ready to govern. You don’t have anything to offer. If you have something to offer the people, you will offer them and they will vote for you”, Ojeshina stated.
“There are all kinds of complaints left and right. If I ran into 10 people, nine of them would complain. One thing we should realise is that, people are not stupid, people learn from experiences, people are not better off than they were four or five years ago. So, my message is about people, people and people,” he added.
