2019: TRANSITION MONITORING GROUP KICK -STARTS CITIZEN’S CHARTER WITH OGUN GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES

The meeting involved number of civil  societies, labour unions, professional bodies, trade unions  and transport unions among others, while representatives of each of the affiliated groups spoke in support of the project.

In his welcome speech, Ogun State Coordinator of Transition Monitoring Group (TMG),Sina Adefolahan said as a critical stakeholder in the project, the time is now to ensure that our elected and political office holders are accountable to the citizens who have surrendered their mandate to them at polls.

‘This calls for partnership as TMG alone cannot do it. It is against this backdrop that TMG in Ogun State is partnering  with other stakeholders to present citizens charter of demand to our Gubernatorial Candidates ahead of the 2019 election in respect of the agenda that they have for the citizens of the State if given the mandate as the Governor of the State’

He explained that the maiden meeting was the beginning of a movement for accountability as the charter is based and it will be the instrument to be used to ask questions from the next Governor,his agenda

Penpushing reports further that, Chair, Transition Monitoring Group (TMG),Abiola Afolabi-Akiyode in her remark, said the stakeholders have come together for the better future of the country and the benefits of the citizens.

She emphasized that, the Transition Monitoring Group(TMG) was ready to work with all stakeholders, noting that the Charter  has been in existence on all issues, and called on participants to come together in setting agenda.

The Group boss further disclosed that, the projects scheduled to take place in all the 36 states of the country, having concluded arrangements to collaborate with all identified stakeholders,adding that the body was open for strategy.
