‎HERDSMEN MATCHETES FARMER OVER ENQUIRY ON FARMLAND GRAZING

 
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer,Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed said three suspected herdsmen have been arrested over the development. He said the suspects,which include; Mohammed Bello(40), Muhammed Momoh(30) and Yisau Umoru(18),were arrested with number of exhibits. He said they were arrested following an information received by the police that the farmer was attacked and severely wounded by the herdsmen in his farm. 
 
Oyeyemi said when Orisade confronted the herdsmen to know the reason why they allow their cattle to graze on his farm thereby destroyed his farms’ crops,the suspects launched attack on him. He said following ‎an argument which ensued in the process, the herdsmen macheted the victim severally before they escaped into the nearby bush.
 
‘On the strength of the information, the Area Commander Ilaro Acp Titus Musa dispatched team of Policemen to the scene and the bush was thoroughly combed inconjuction with local vigilante at the end of which the three suspects were arrested’,he said. ‎The police spokesman said items recovered from the suspects include one AK 49 riffle, with serial number 513, forty nine 0.8mm life ammunition, 26 live cartridges and two sharp cutlasses. 
 
He said efforts are on to apprehend other suspects and to recover other arms from them that the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered immediate transfer of the suspects to FSARS for discreet investigation.
